June's Wishlist

June's Wishlist

This is my perfect summer time outfit, co-ordinated skirt and crop from Topshop with olive green frilly socks and chunky man style brogues. The book bag clutch has been on many of my wish lists and until i get one it will remain there! The sunglasses are also perfect with this outfit.

Wedding day outfit blues.

I have my brother and his lovely fiancee's wedding day in August, so it should be a beautiful hot and sunny day we hope. This means outfit options are to be scrutinised for nobody wants to spend all day in a dress you can't breathe in and the mortifying thought of sweating in. I have been on the hunt pretty much since i found out the date and wasn't that impressed with what i found. I tried all the obvious high street stores, Topshop, River Island and Miss Selfridge, all of which were too glam for a wedding. I just wanted something simple that i could dress up and wear again. I find after speaking to a lot of people about what to wear to a wedding is that they will spend over £100 on the perfect formal occasion dress, wearing it for that one day and then either let it gather dust in the wardrobe or selling it on eBay for less than half it was bought for. I am guilty of the splurging on an outfit for one night out and then realising that i'll most likely never wear it again. Not this time!

So after searching without success i did come across the perfect dress in Zara, there was a huge stickler of a problem though. It was gleaming crisp white. Now for all the confused faces at why this would be a problem, imagine throwing a party with the theme of The Little Mermaid and shouting from the rooftops that you can't wait to dress up as Ariel, and then some idiot comes to your party dressed up as Ariel too. It would be infuriating! So this was the problem, perfect dress - not so perfect colour. Checking the label and seeing that it was 100% cotton gave me the idea to dye the dress a colour that i wanted. I was incredibly nervous dying a brand new dress from Zara but with helpful hints from the internet it went without a hitch. The gleaming crisp white dress became a darling shade of china blue. I can honestly advise anybody suffering with the same dress problem, if you find a white dress that is perfect just dye it!

Strolls, sun & sushi.

The sun was out! I'm bloody ecstatic about it, waking up and seeing how lovely it was outside i asked Joe if we could go the to Abbey park. We bought some sushi and Ribena from the shop to eat at the park, but before we could stroll through the grass, Joe took us to the local RSPCA to look at the dogs because his family are looking to adopt. It was so sad seeing that many lovely dogs without a home but a lot of them were reserved so it made me feel better. Sadly no dashhounds though! After we looked around we headed to the park. We sat on a picnic bench and ate our sushi then walked round. Abbey park is huge with two lakes, one which has pedalos! Also plenty of huge trees and brightly coloured flowers, a petting zoo, a children's play area and a cafe that serves sandwiches and ice cream til late in the afternoon. We went to see the geese and swans, and because I'm a huge kid i went on the swings.

I asked Joe to get some pictures of my outfit for the day because it included two of my birthday presents, my beautiful leather wedge shoes and my tapestry rucksack! I also wore my ditsy flower print dress with the crochet waist, pastel green frill socks, an Alice in Wonderland badge and my cat-wing sunglasses.

Dress - Topshop - £38
Tapestry bag - New Look - Was a gift
Frill socks - Primark - £1.50
Wedge shoes - River Island - £55
Sunglasses - Topshop - £16
Alice badge - Was a gift

Well that was my sunny day out, one of the last (sob). It's my first shot at a proper outfit post so hopefully i will get better at this! Hope everyone has enjoyed the sunshine and now to start getting ready for Autumn! Can't wait to see everyone's autumn posts, all the tights and jumpers!

Pre-holiday jitters.

I can't believe its nearly been a whole month since I've posted! Ahhh crikey. Well a lot has happened in these last few weeks, and i mean A LOT! Sadly our house got broken in to a couple weeks ago and it's shook us up but we are on the mend. The landlord has been nothing but lovely and helping out loads by up-ping the security of the house. Another thing is that my job as entropy's supervisor is coming to a bittersweet end. They are finally shutting up shop for good on the 19th of this month. I was devastated when i found out because it's been my second home for the past two years and safe to say my last Friday night shift behind the bar will be a teary one. So many good things are happening this year (and beyond) Going to university to study Fashion Buying is definitely one of them. Moving in with my boyfriend will be another but before all of that i will be going to Mexico for two weeks in just 7 days! It's just gonna be good!

Which brings me to this post. I am having a slight mare with this as I've been on holiday once in my life and looking back on the photographs i wish i wore better stuff. So I've been tactically buying things to mix and match when I'm holiday so that i don't need to buy or pack a ridiculous amount of clothes. So i thought id share with all you lovely people to get your thoughts on my holiday clobber!

It may be grey outside but it's sunny in my wardrobe.

So it was my first day off in a while and i felt the need to dress up a bit seeing as our uniform policy at work is black, white or grey and formal casual. Alas not strict but seeing as majority of my wardrobe is floral's or pastel's, this means i have to dull it down ever so much. On my days off i like to take advantage of the freedom i have, even if the weather was ridiculously overcast, warm but grey. Is that even a type of weather? So i opted for my handmade pastel blue cotton skirt, a sleeveless floral blouse, white frilly socks, brown t-bar shoes and my tweed blazer. To top it all off i wore a chunky gold chain, some cute badges on my jacket and a mint green headscarf.

Jacket - Jane Norman (bought from a charity shop!)
Shirt - Charity shop
Gold necklace - ASOS
Skirt - Handmade by myself
White socks - Topshop
Brown t-bar shoes - Vintage

Sorry i can't put any useful links on this outfit post apart from the socks & the necklace, majority of it is charity shops!
